Job summary

Selective Insurance invites college students to join the Ignite Internship program at our Short Hills, NJ corporate office for an 11-week, full-time experience. You will help with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis within our corporate Finance Department, gaining hands-on exposure while working in a hybrid setting within commuting distance of Short Hills.

Ideal candidates are Finance majors, Juniors or Seniors, with proficiency in Excel/Outlook/Word/PowerPoint and an interest in the

Qualifications

• Must be a current college student majoring in Finance or a related field to qualify.
• Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is preferred.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.
• High School Diploma required. Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.

Responsibilities

• Participate in budgeting cycle preparations and gain insight into financial management.
• Review variance reporting across the organization to help set the next year's budget.
• Learn about different functions and aspects of the insurance industry from a risk perspective.
• Support daily Treasury operations including liquidity forecasting, bank account administration, and financial reporting.
• Perform financial analysis and assist with projects related to investments, capital management, banking relationships, and process improvements.
