Job summary

State Street is seeking a Managing Director, Head of Finance Transformation in Boston to lead strategy, governance and portfolio orchestration for the Finance transformation agenda as part of DART.

You will translate priorities into a prioritized portfolio with disciplined program management and measurable outcomes, guiding a small global team and leveraging AI to accelerate analysis and storytelling for executives and delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in Finance transformation, strategy, portfolio management or operating-model change within a large, complex organization.
• Strong understanding of Finance and Treasury processes, controls and regulatory requirements.
• Expertise in process discovery, business analysis and business-case development, using data to baseline performance and measure outcomes.
• Proven experience establishing intake, portfolio governance, program management and value-realization disciplines, including budget and partner oversight.
• Experience shaping target operating models, including domain, platform or end-to-end process models.
• Proven change leadership across large, global Finance teams.
• Working knowledge of how data, AI, automation and enterprise platforms enable Finance transformation, with hands-on AI fluency.
• Exceptional storytelling, executive presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills.
• Proven ability to resolve competing priorities and hold senior stakeholders accountable without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Develop the Finance transformation strategy and multi-year roadmap with Finance and Treasury leadership.
• Provide thought leadership on where Finance should simplify, standardize, transform and invest.
• Recommend prioritization and sequencing of initiatives based on value and capacity.
• Build partnerships with Enterprise Transformation and the Data & AI team to leverage existing capabilities.
• Identify manual activity and fragmentation through end-to-end process discovery and data analysis.
• Own the intake, prioritization and portfolio governance framework with clear accountability.
• Maintain a transparent view of investments, budget, commitments, benefits and risks.
• Lead governance of the transformation budget with the CFO organization.
• Ensure program management standards and cadence across the portfolio.
• Lead the evolution toward a domain/platform operating model with end-to-end accountability.
• Translate cost and capacity insights into operating-model recommendations.
• Ensure controls, data lineage, and regulatory requirements are embedded by design.
• Set standards for tracking benefits and adoption, and report portfolio health to executives.
• Drive the Finance transformation upskilling agenda with enterprise partners.
• Use AI to pull facts together and produce executive-ready materials with human judgment.
