Job summary

Meharry Medical College is seeking a Director of Finance and Business for the Research & Innovation Division to oversee financial stewardship, forecasting, and administration that support the division’s research mission.

The role focuses on grant lifecycle management, budgeting, and compliance, with emphasis on building strong stakeholder relationships and presenting to senior leadership. A Master’s degree is preferred and Experience with Workday is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related fields.
• Five or more years of experience in a Financial Analysis/Management, Accounting or Finance position.
• Experience in a similar-sized organization with a similar level of responsibility.
• Ability to articulate and present leveraging both in visual and written form to senior leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive results.

Responsibilities

• Grant lifecycle management across all stages from submission to closeout, coordinating with program staff and units.
• Lead annual budget and multiyear financial planning, including revenue/expense packages for hearings.
• Ensure strategic resource allocation aligned with divisional priorities under SVP guidance.
• Oversee core financial operations, ensuring compliance with policies and external funding requirements.
