Job summary

Selective Insurance in Short Hills, NJ is seeking a STAT Reporting & Research intern for Summer 2027. You’ll gain hands-on experience in financial reporting within the Corporate Finance Department, with on-the-job assignments and exposure to senior leadership, while working in a hybrid role within commuting distance of Short Hills.

As part of the internship, you’ll complete reporting tasks, support NAIC filings, and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• Must be a current college student majoring in Finance or Accounting pursuing 150 credits/CPA to qualify.
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is preferred.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily premium analysis and reporting, comparing results to budget and prior year performance.
• Assist in the preparation of assigned state filing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Support monthly close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation of assigned schedules for quarterly NAIC filings.
• Collaborate with departments across the organization to gather and provide information needed for reporting and filing requirements.
• Participate in various ad hoc projects and analysis requests that support the Statutory Reporting team.
