TREASURER'S OFFICE (UA-TREA-IUBLA)

As the central financial hub for banking and payment operations, Treasury Operations ensures critical disbursements, revenue collection, and liquidity management run efficiently and securely across the university. The team works closely with internal departments and external partners to implement modern payment solutions, manage bank relationships, and optimize interest income. Through continuous training, policy oversight, and annual Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance, Treasury Operations empowers campus units to handle financial transactions safely and effectively.

This position is within Treasury Operations in the Office of the Treasurer. The Finance Specialist is primarily responsible for initiating and verifying daily banking transactions while working with internal and external customers.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Initiates and verifies daily wire transfers, ACH payments, and routine bank transactions.
  • Creates and maintains dashboards to track banking and credit card merchant activities, including volumes, fees, expenses, data usage, etc.
  • Manages signature delegation, including maintaining and updating the delegation log to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Completes research requests from departments, troubleshoots issues, orders supplies, and coordinates with banking partners to resolve issues.
  • Reviews and validates department ACH vendor payment requests to ensure accurate routing, proper documentation, and payment security.
  • Investigates returned checks, analyzes root causes, and ensures proper general ledger adjustments and account reconciliations are accurately posted.
  • Maintains and updates the Daily Cash Worksheet by building complex formulas and automating calculations to ensure accurate cash visibility.
  • Sends notifications to area banks to identify and address any unauthorized bank accounts.
  • Troubleshoots, programs, tracks, and trains staff on banking systems and hardware.
General Responsibilities
  • Performs routine independent analysis of daily cash flows, cash payments, interest charges and earnings, and other financial and cash flows metrics.
  • Reconciles account statements and cash transactions; troubleshoots and corrects basic and moderately complex errors, escalating more complex errors as needed.
  • Responds to employee inquiries and requests and explains fiscal policies and procedures.
  • May provide organizational treasury training.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of experience in relevant field.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Preferred

  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) upon date of hire.
  • Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP) upon date of hire.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change based on university policy and business needs.

$59,000 - $61,460.04 annually depending upon qualifications.
