Job summary

Keller Executive Search presents an experienced Finance & Reporting Manager opportunity for a privately held real estate-focused portfolio. You will oversee monthly financial reporting for individual communities and the broader portfolio, drive budgeting, and partner with leadership to translate numbers into actionable guidance.

This role demands expertise in GAAP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, with strong Excel and ERP system experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
  • Ability to translate financial information into practical recommendations for operational leaders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience with multiple entities, business units, or operating locations.
  • Experience in real estate, property management, or asset-based businesses is preferred.
  • CPA or CMA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience with property-level reporting and portfolio financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial reporting for communities and the portfolio.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting with operational leadership.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, occupancy trends, capex, and variances.
  • Develop management reports providing clear insight into operating performance.
  • Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end closes.
  • Support cash flow planning and performance against budgets.
  • Collaborate with community management to investigate variances.
  • Assist leadership with financial analysis for acquisitions and improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve controls, reporting processes, and workflows.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, lenders, and other partners.

Our client is a privately held owner and operator of residential land-lease communities with properties across the Mid-Atlantic region. The business focuses on disciplined property operations, portfolio growth, and maintaining well-managed residential communities.

The organization is looking for an experienced Finance & Reporting Manager to oversee financial reporting and provide stronger visibility into property-level and portfolio performance.

This role combines accounting oversight with practical financial analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to improve reporting, support budgeting, monitor financial performance, and strengthen financial controls as the portfolio expands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reporting for individual communities and the broader property portfolio.
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes in partnership with operational leadership.
  • Analyze property revenue, operating expenses, occupancy trends, capital spending, and financial variances.
  • Develop management reports that provide leadership with clear insight into operating performance.
  • Oversee general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end closing activities.
  • Support cash flow planning and monitor financial performance against approved budgets.
  • Partner with community management teams to investigate material financial variances.
  • Assist leadership with financial analysis related to acquisitions, capital improvements, and operational initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting processes, and accounting workflows.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, lenders, and other financial partners when required.
Additional Details
  • Limited travel may be required for property reviews or meetings.
  • This position has regular interaction with executive and operational leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or financial management experience.
