Job description

Carnegie Mellon University's Office of the Provost is searching for a Finance Manager to join their team. This is a new opportunity for someone who thrives in an exciting and challenging work environment.

Role Overview

As a member of the Vice Provost for Academic Budgets & Financial Planning, this Financial Manager will serve as a financial expert and administrative partner on a transformative grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Responsibilities include managing a multi-year $50M+ grant, liaising with various stakeholders, organizing and analyzing budgets, and developing financial dashboards.

Note: this is a fixed-term, grant-funded position with an expected duration of 3 years.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Financial Management & Planning: Analyze financial data, perform forecasting, develop reports, and support planning and analysis presentations.
  2. Financial Analysis & Reporting: Support stakeholders with financial analysis, monitor budgets, and leverage tools for grant management.
  3. Cross Campus Engagement: Collaborate across the university, communicate financial reports, and develop dashboards for various audiences.
  4. Subrecipient Monitoring: Review invoices, ensure compliance with budgets, and support PI's in monitoring subrecipients.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master's preferred
  • At least 8 years of relevant financial experience
  • Experience with dashboards and visualization tools like PowerBI
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
