Job summary

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is seeking a Finance Manager in Washington, DC to lead accounting operations, reporting, and internal controls for a nonprofit with a $15M+ budget. This role supervises staff, manages an outsourced vendor, and ensures compliance with GAAP and funder requirements.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, you will drive month-end close, grant tracking, audits, and process improvements while partnering with program teams to ensure accurate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA/CMA preferred; 6–8 years nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing outsourced accounting/vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable with proper coding and timely vendor payments.
  • Maintain internal control systems to satisfy GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and funder requirements.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close, prepare financial statements and schedules.
  • Oversee restricted funds, grants, and program tracking with grant activity reconciliation.
  • Coordinate annual independent financial audit and tax/compliance tasks.
