Job summary

The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, based in Washington, DC, seeks a Vice President of Finance to lead financial strategy, planning, and governance for a $25M+ operating budget and a $60M asset portfolio. Reporting to the COO, you will drive sustainability, risk management, and scalable financial systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of nonprofit finance leadership experience, including budgeting and reporting.
  • Experience managing budgets at least $20M+ and advising senior leaders on strategy.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and audit readiness.
  • Experience with investment reporting and liquidity planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership, FP&A, and budget planning for a $25M+ operating budget.
  • Lead organization-wide budgeting, forecasting, dashboards, and financial reporting.
  • Improve finance systems, automate processes, and enhance cross-functional reporting.
  • Supervise Finance Manager and ensure internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Communicate financial insights to the COO, executives, and Board committees.
