Job summary

The Orange County Finance department is looking for a Financial Manager-Accounts Payable to oversee the management of Accounts Payable functions and supervise related processing. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree, relevant experience, and strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills. This position requires a valid North Carolina driver's license and successful completion of a background check.

Job description

The Orange County Finance department has an opening for a Financial Manager-Accounts Payable position.

An employee of this class is primarily responsible for the management and administration of the County’s Accounts Payable functions. Work involves management of the general ledger, and supervising the processing of accounts.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer with leeway to exercise independent judgment within the guidelines of established local government procedures, local ordinances and North Carolina General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations. Supervision is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, public administration or a related field AND three (3) years of related experience in a accounts payableat least one (1) year of supervisory responsibility ; OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in accounting, business, public administration or a related field.

An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.

Certification as either a Certified Accounts Payable Professional, or other Finance Certfication including Certified Governtment Finance Manager or Certifed Public Finance Officer is preferred. A candidate must exhibit strength in attention to detail, time management skills, and excellent communication skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.

May be required to obtain additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the Chief Financial Officer.
