Reporting to the Operations Director and working closely with the CEO and Board Finance Committee, the Finance Manager oversees accounting, budgeting, payroll, grants management, financial reporting, compliance, audit preparation, and internal controls.
Girl Power Rocks seeks a strategic, hands-on Finance Manager to build and lead a strong in-house finance and accounting function that supports the organization’s growth, sustainability, and mission impact. Reporting to the Operations Director and working closely with the CEO and Board Finance Committee, the Finance Manager oversees accounting, budgeting, payroll, grants management, financial reporting, compliance, audit preparation, and internal controls. A key priority is modernizing financial operations, including transitioning appropriate functions from outsourced providers to an efficient, best-practice in-house model.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
Seven or more years of progressive accounting and financial management experience are required.
Demonstrated nonprofit experience, including fund accounting and grants management, required.
Supervisory experience required, with the ability to support, develop, and evaluate finance staff.
Demonstrated experience managing audits, budgets, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other financial software required.
Comfort selecting and overseeing accounting, HR/payroll, and other financial software, as well as managing vendor relationships.
Lead all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
Prepare timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements segmented by program and grant.
Develop and maintain financial systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls, streamlining accounting through effective use of QuickBooks and other financial software.
Supervise, support, and develop the bookkeeper and any future finance staff.
Serve as liaison between the agency and outsourced audit and accounting firms.
Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing cash-flow forecasting; monitor financial performance and advise leadership on key decisions.
Oversee grant budgets, cost allocations, reimbursement requests, compliance monitoring, and budget modifications to maximize reimbursement and ensure proper fund accounting.
Partner with the development team on donor revenue, reporting, and restricted-fund accounting.
Partner with the Director of Programs on grant-funded program accounting, reimbursement, and financial reporting.
Serve as primary liaison for the annual audit and IRS Form 990 preparation.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, grantor, and nonprofit reporting requirements.
Keep corporate registrations, insurance, licensure, and related compliance documentation current.
Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through strong internal controls and ongoing process improvement.
Oversee payroll administration and support benefits and employee recordkeeping.
Oversee the evaluation and implementation of payroll-related platforms and/or PEO solutions.
Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy and communicating financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
