Job summary

Bunzl Distribution in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Finance IT Specialist to support month-end close by retrieving data, building reports, and validating data across multiple financial systems. You will work with Corporate Finance, Divisions, Operations and IT, and participate in software integrations and acquisitions.

The role requires hands-on data extraction, SQL querying, and system administration of selected financial apps, with a mix of office and on-site work in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting, Finance, Business or Information Systems required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in IT required.
• Prior experience in accounting, finance, auditing preferred.
• Must be a self-starter with ability to work at detailed analytical level and at summary level, with speed and accuracy.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with ability to explain complex financial datasets.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications.
• Experience with Hyperion Financial Management, AS400 ERP, PowerBI, TM1, Blackline, Showcase Query desired.
• Exposure to modern data environments such as data warehouses or lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) including APIs or automated data feeds is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Corporate Finance initiatives including data extraction, ad hoc reporting, and analysis.
• Navigate multiple financial systems to data mine and extract information for period close, audit, or special projects.
• Investigate data discrepancies between financial systems and identify root causes.
• Utilize SQL or similar query tools to validate and analyze financial data.
• Act as system administrator or power user for select financial applications including user access management.
• Monthly and semi-annual close and reporting of financial results as needed.
• Implementation of new software and acquisitions.
• Assist auditors with information requests and documentation.
• Complete special projects and non-routine assignments as required by management.
