Job summary

Bunzl Distribution is seeking a Senior Internal Controls Analyst to support the Internal Controls Manager at the corporate office in St. Louis, MO. You will engage in risk assessment, control creation, implementation, and ongoing monitoring to strengthen the internal controls environment across Bunzl North America.

You will collaborate with process owners to embed controls, monitor weaknesses, and drive remediation. Strong analytical skills and GAAP/IFRS knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
• CPA or CIA designation preferred or in progress.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related area.
• Strong client focus and ability to build strong relationships with the business.
• Strong business acumen and desire to learn.
• Analytical with attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making and negotiation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications and presentations skills; ability to implement change effectively.
• Experience in implementing risk-based processes and controls.
• Global and international experiences a plus.
• Knowledge of accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
• Microsoft Office proficiency and ERP experience.

Responsibilities

• Take part in planning and establishing an effective internal controls strategy.
• Assist in managing process and control owner relations.
• Establish key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve internal controls.
• Assist department leaders to develop, monitor and maintain an effective internal controls environment.
• Monitor and report on internal control weaknesses and track remediation actions.
• Work as an internal controls coach and business partner with process owners to embed controls.
• Plan and implement periodic internal controls monitoring assessments.
• Assist in planning and executing periodic risk and control self-assessments and remediation.
• Ensure benchmarking to reflect key business risks and continued fitness for purpose.
• Review effectiveness of control design and recommend improvements.
• Assess IT risks and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
• Keep updated on developments affecting internal controls and audit procedures.
• Proactively follow up on ineffective controls and drive improvement plans.
