Job summary

Michaels Stores, Inc. invites a Finance Intern to join the Tax team in Irving, TX for the Summer Program (May 31 – August 5, 2027).

You will work on cross-functional projects, gain hands-on experience, and participate in development opportunities designed to build core financial skills within a retail context. Eligible students should be pursuing a Bachelor's in Finance, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate strong analytical and software skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher required; strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on projects with interns and cross-functional partners; prepare intern group project for leaders.
• Participate in development opportunities to grow personally and professionally.
• Gain hands-on experience across business aspects including in-store and systems usage.
• Contribute ideas to assigned team and intern project; manage tasks with initiative and time management.

Support Center - Irving

Our Summer Internship Program (May 31 - August 5, 2027) is designed to attract and develop future leaders. This opportunity is for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing career opportunities in retail. As a Finance Intern in Tax at Michaels, you will be assigned to a team and gain hands-on experience with core responsibilities, relevant projects, and professional development opportunities.

Major Activities

• Collaborate with fellow interns and cross-functional partners on meaningful projects that directly contribute to our business goals. This includes an intern group project presented to company leaders.
• Actively participate in learning and development opportunities designed to help you grow personally and professionally.
• Develop a diverse skillset through hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of the business. This includes facility tours, mentorship, Q&A panels, in-store experience, and more.
• Contribute your fresh perspective and creative ideas to your assigned team and your intern group project.
• Manage your projects or tasks, demonstrating initiative, time management, and the ability to produce good work results.
• Embody our culture of collaboration and inclusivity by learning from and engaging with your peers and leaders.

Preferred Education/Experience

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance or a relevant field.

Minimum Type of Experience Required

• GPA of 3.0 or above
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Other

• A strong communicator, creative thinker, and team player who is eager to learn and grow.
• Experience working in a retail environment is preferred.
• Demonstrate a desire to utilize Michaels' systems to analyze financial data and optimize processes.
