Job summary

First Baptist Church of Tupelo, MS seeks a Director of Finance and Human Resources to oversee the church’s financial integrity and HR programs. The role reports to the Executive Pastor and requires strong accounting experience and leadership.

You will manage the general ledger, payroll, tax filings, budgets, and HR records while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws. Four-year accounting background and several years in finance or HR are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of college accounting or comparable financial experience.
• Preferred: five+ years in accounting; HR experience and labor-law knowledge is advantageous.
• Advanced skills in computer program operation and electronic communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial management, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Disburse funds per budgets and directives of Finance Committee and Executive Pastor.
• Maintain ledgers, tax filings, and donor records; ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
• Serve as Human Resources Administrator; manage leave, time worked, and HR policy knowledge.
• Develop and maintain capital plans with the Executive Pastor and committees.
