Job summary

The Berean Baptist Church is seeking a Finance Manager to maintain accurate financial records, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with church policies. You will supervise the finance team, develop and implement accounting procedures, and report to the Managing Director of Church Operations.

The role requires 6–8 years of accounting experience, nonprofit knowledge, and proficiency with MS Office and nonprofit accounting software. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years accounting experience or degree in accounting, business administration, or finance
• Proven background in developing cash flow projections
• Proven abilities in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, and administration
• Experience in supervising and developing staff members including leadership skills
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate varying workloads
• Proficiency with Non-Profit Accounting Software (IntAcct knowledge preferred)
• Knowledge of payroll reporting requirements
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Customer / Client focused ability to communicate proficiently
• Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Show diligence in accuracy and punctuality in the meeting of deadlines
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in a non-profit setting with strong knowledge of accounting for non-profit organizations with an excellent grasp of non-profit accounting software strongly preferred
• 6-8 years accounting experience or degree in accounting, business administration, or finance

Responsibilities

• Maintain financial records including contributions, cash disbursements, accounts payable, payroll and benefits
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports per standard accounting practices
• Coordinate fundraising requests with the Finance Committee
• Reconcile bank statements monthly
• Oversee restricted funds and forecast balances
• Ensure confidentiality of financial information
• Lead annual financial review with CPA firm and assist audits
• Lead budget development with Finance Committee and Executive Team
• Supervise the finance department staff and timelines
• Interface with banks, auditors, and payroll services
• Provide input for formal presentations to Church Body at meetings
• Maintain filing and records of contracts and financial agreements
• Provide information for quarterly/annual reporting to Elders Finance Committee
• Manage General Ledger and all accounting functions (AP/AR/Cash)
• Attend Operational Team meetings and staff training as required
