Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) is seeking an associate to support its finance and HR functions. You will manage day-to-day financial operations, support budgeting/reporting, and coordinate with an external accounting firm, while assisting HR activities including onboarding and payroll support.

The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and process improvements, with collaboration across leadership, staff, and board committees.

Formación

• At least three years of experience in finance/accounting; some HR experience preferred.
• Familiar with GAAP and nonprofit accounting, including grants management.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, financial analysis, and reporting.
• Experience with accounting or payroll systems; Justworks, Bill.com, and Sage Intacct preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as primary liaison with external accounting firm and coordinate with the COO.
• Oversee day-to-day accounts payable/receivable, expense coding, invoices, and payments.
• Review and reconcile credit card transactions and staff reimbursements weekly.
• Prepare quarterly financial reports with budget-to-actuals and variance analyses.
• Assist with annual audit, tax return preparation, and budgeting processes.
• Coordinate quarterly finance subcommittee meetings.
• Support compliance by updating policies and training staff.
• Monitor grant revenue/expenditures and fund reporting to funders.
• Maintain accurate records in accounting systems and vendor data.
• Review contracts to ensure alignment with budget parameters.
• Support HR tasks: recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and performance reviews.
