Job summary

Desert Recreation District invites applications for a Department Director of Finance. This executive role plans, organizes, and directs all financial operations, including budgeting, investments, forecasting, reporting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and risk management.

The position requires strong leadership, policy guidance to the General Manager, and coordination with districts and outside agencies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of public policy, municipal budgeting and financial management.
• Strong understanding of government accounting, auditing and revenue management.
• Ability to lead, supervise and develop staff and programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all Finance Department programs including budgeting, accounting, purchasing, billing and customer service.
• Directs preparation of annual budget, financial forecasting, and reporting to management and Board.
• Supervises staff and coordinates with other departments and external agencies.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
