Job summary

Desert Recreation District is seeking an experienced Director of the Community Services Department to plan, organize, and oversee recreation, senior services, special events, aquatics, and facility operations across the district's service area.

You will develop departmental goals, policies, and internal controls, supervise staff, and coordinate with other agencies and the public to deliver high-quality programs and services.

Qualifications

• Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in recreation, business or public administration, or related field.
• Experience: Five (5) years managing multiple recreation and community service programs and staff.
• Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Oversee districtwide recreation and leisure programs, parks, and community engagement.
• Develop goals, policies, and work standards for the Community Services Department.
• Direct staff, train, evaluate performance, and address issues.
• Prepare and administer large budgets and allocate resources.
• Represent the district in meetings with agencies and community groups.
