Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Director of Finance for a defense contractor in Madison Heights, MI. The role leads financial operations across multiple subsidiaries, overseeing accounting, reporting, government contracting, and compliance.

The successful candidate will manage multi-entity close, prepare executive reports, and optimize Deltek Costpoint while guiding the finance team onsite. On-site role with competitive salary and benefits; DoD experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in government contracting (DoD preferred).
• Strong FAR/DFARS, DCAA audit, and cost‑accounting knowledge.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP.
• Ability to lead multi‑entity close and executive reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all entities, consolidating and eliminating intercompany transactions.
• Prepare executive financial reporting packages including P&L trends, balance sheet analysis, gross profit margin by program, budget vs. actual variance analysis, and dashboards.
• Maintain the general ledger in the ERP system (Deltek Costpoint), ensuring accurate cost pool allocations and job-cost postings.
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and manage accounts payable/receivable functions.
• Design, maintain, and defend the indirect rate structure per FAR Part 31 and CAS requirements.
• Prepare and submit incurred cost proposals and support DCAA audits, rate negotiations, and forward pricing submissions.
• Build and maintain program-level Estimates at Completion (EACs) including cost performance for CPFF, FFP, and T&M.
• Support proposal pricing with fully burdened labor rate calculations and cost volume development for government solicitations.
• Ensure ASC 606/percentage-of-completion revenue recognition is properly applied across contracts.
• Prepare and submit periodic bank covenant packages including FCCR and Debt-to-Tangible Net Worth.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for banking and lending relations, managing loan draws.
• Lead the Deltek Costpoint implementation and optimization, including chart of accounts design and user training.
• Support acquisition due diligence, purchase price allocations, and post‑close integration.
