Job summary

Muslim Aid USA is seeking a Finance Director to oversee all financial operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and steward financial strategy. The role reports to the COO and works across accounting, payroll, donor revenue, and budgeting in a fast-evolving nonprofit environment.

The ideal candidate has nonprofit accounting expertise, strong leadership, and experience guiding audits and IRS filings. This hybrid role is based in Fairfax, VA, with a focus on collaboration, integrity, and transparent

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA/ CMA preferred.
• Minimum 7+ years progressive accounting/finance experience in nonprofit org.
• Experience managing full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, reporting).
• Experience supporting external audits and IRS Form 990 filing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting and recordkeeping across GAAP standards.
• Manage monthly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
• Lead Accounts Payable, payroll coordination, and expense approvals.
• Oversee accounts receivable and donor revenue, including donor acknowledgments.
• Lead annual budgeting and financial strategy in collaboration with COO/Program Director.
• Support audits, 1099 filings, and regulatory compliance; prepare board materials.
