Houston Chronicle is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Finance to lead financial operations for one of Hearst Newspapers' key local businesses. This role combines strong accounting judgment with business curiosity and operational discipline in a fast-changing media environment.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will manage close processes, budgeting, forecasting, and advertising accounting while partnering with senior leaders and centralized accounting teams.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
• Experience with advertising accounting and revenue recognition is a plus.
• Proficiency with ERP, planning and reporting systems; Oracle/Hyperion preferred.

Responsabilités

• Own the monthly close process, including accruals and variance analysis.
• Lead weekly P&L reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and executive review support.
• Oversee advertising accounting, revenue recognition, margins, and goaling.
• Develop and monitor KPIs; partner with leaders on financial outcomes.
• Coach and develop the finance/accounting team; ensure internal controls.
