Job summary

Proper Cloth, a fast-growing menswear brand, seeks a Director of Finance in New York (Hybrid) to own and elevate the company’s finance and accounting functions. You will ensure accuracy, discipline, and clarity while partnering with department leaders on plans, investments, and operational changes.

This senior, hands-on role will manage accounting outcomes, ensure reliable financial plumbing, and translate data into actionable insights for teams across the company.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or operational finance roles.
• Experience owning or managing accounting functions (AP, close, reporting).
• Strong cost accounting and operational finance understanding.
• Ability to translate financial data into clear insights for non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve accounting operations across the organization.
• Manage accounting function and external partners.
• Maintain up-to-date processes, COA, and data pipelines.
• Provide department-level P&Ls and cost reporting.
• Partner with CEOs and department heads to evaluate plans and ROI.
