Job summary

Spartanburg County First Steps is seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial administration, budgeting, and grant management. The role oversees accounting, payroll-related activities, and compliance with agency policies and state/federal requirements.

The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to provide financial guidance, support audits, and collaborate with management and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Extensive experience in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, AP/AR, or financial administration.
• Experience with accounting and financial management systems.
• Knowledge of state and federal financial and grant requirements.
• Experience with payroll, banking, purchasing, grants, and audit support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial records.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, board reports, and budget-to-actuals; investigate variances.
• Develop and monitor agency, program, center, and grant budgets; revise and reallocate as needed.
• Monitor cash flow, bank activity, deposits, reconciliations, and grant funding needs.
• Review invoices, purchase orders, reimbursements, and payment documentation; ensure compliance.
• Coordinate vendor payments, rent, and other payments; administer CertifyAP; manage credit-card transactions.
