Job summary

Charleston County is seeking a Deputy Director to lead the compliance and finance team, provide final sign-off on financials and regulatory submissions, and manage key HUD planning projects. The role requires strategic oversight, strong grants management, and supervisory experience across multiple officers.

Open until filled, with a salary range of $95,804 to $125,465 annually. North Charleston, SC location, county-wide impact and opportunities for collaboration with external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Master’s in Public Administration or Business Administration preferred.
• Minimum ten (10) years in a finance position and minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience.
• Experience administering federal grants and grant management certification or ability to obtain within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Sets long-term strategic vision for compliance and finance team.
• Oversees quality control and final sign-off on financial transactions and submissions.
• Leads five-year Consolidated Plan and HUD planning documents.
• Directs staff through hiring, training, and performance management.
• Represents department in external meetings and county and partner engagements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
