Job summary

The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, CA seeks a Director of Finance / Controller to oversee accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role advises the General Manager on financial performance, leads budgeting processes, and coordinates with the Finance Committee and external auditors.

Key duties include supervising accounting staff, preparing financial statements, managing tax filings, and safeguarding Club assets.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years accounting experience, preferably in a private club, or in a hotel or resort in California.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, accounting systems, and internal control skills.
• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and Club Essentials.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with Club leadership and committees.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely accounting functions.
• Direct accounting and budgeting policies, procedures, systems, and practices for efficient operations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, with variance analysis and recommendations.
• Coordinate internal accounting and audits with independent CPAs and Board oversight.
• Oversee payroll, tax filings, insurance administration, and vendor/payable processes.
