Job summary

Hagerty Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Director of Accounting and Finance to report to the CEO and lead the finance function. This high-impact role builds processes, strengthens controls, and scales finance in a growing professional services firm.

You will oversee GAAP compliance, budgeting, FP&A, and executive reporting while partnering with the CEO and leadership to drive strategic decisions. A competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits accompany this opportunity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of public accounting experience (Big Four preferred).
• 4+ years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role within a professional services firm.
• Demonstrated success building or improving financial processes and leading teams.
• Experience with government contracting environments.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition in project-based, time and materials, or consulting models.
• CPA (active or inactive) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing accounting and finance team.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Design and implement a highly efficient, accrual-based close process.
• Build and formalize U.S. GAAP revenue recognition policies across all projects and business lines.
• Establish and refine scalable internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Transform the firm to an audit-ready state and liaise with external auditors as needed.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide variance analysis and forecasts.
• Create executive reporting packages with KPIs and dashboards.
