Job summary

The Maryland Department of Labor in Baltimore is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the fiscal activities for the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, including budgeting, accounting, and auditing across 25 regulatory programs.

You will supervise finance staff, develop indirect cost allocations, and coordinate with the Commissioner’s Office on all budgetary items to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other financially-related field. 2 years of direct supervisory
• 1 year of experience managing a government program and one year of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, plans, and programs, including accounting, budgeting, and auditing experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily administrative, fiscal, procurement, and auditing functions, including budget and fiscal management, revenue and expenditure projections.
• Leads budget initiatives on behalf of the Commissioner’s Office and coordinates with state offices on budget development.
• Oversees preparation of the division’s budgets and approvals for purchases and expenditures during the fiscal year.
• Monitors monthly expenditures and prepares financial projections, encumbrances, and related factors.
• Reviews audit reports and implements corrective actions.
