Job summary

Midwest Groundcovers, a regional leader in the Green Industry, seeks a Controller to provide financial leadership and strategic direction. You will oversee Finance and Accounting, drive reporting integrity, and partner with ownership to translate data into actionable insights that support sustainable growth.

You will lead budgeting, cash flow, cost analysis, pricing insights, and risk management while building a high-performing team and ensuring compliance across operations and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
• CPA, MBA, CMA, or other advanced financial credential strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and business leadership in roles such as Controller, CFO, or VP Finance.
• Experience partnering with ownership, boards, lenders, and external auditors.
• Experience operating in ERP, BI, automation, or major business systems initiatives.
• Experience in Green industry, agriculture, manufacturing, or distribution is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely financial reporting including statements, inventory reporting, profitability analysis, dashboards, and KPIs.
• Lead budgeting, cash flow, working capital, and long-range planning.
• Strengthen cost accounting and financial analysis with Production, Operations, Inventory, and Sales.
• Offer financial insight on pricing, capital investments, acquisitions, and expansion opportunities.
• Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and translate insights for ownership and senior leadership.
• Oversee internal controls, policies, compliance, and governance standards.
