Job summary

Saint Martin’s University is seeking a Controller to lead all fiscal accounting functions and supervise the finance staff. This full-time role reports to the Vice President-Finance/CFO and includes oversight of general ledger, cash management, fixed assets, construction projects, and debt management.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years in administrative financial roles, supervisory experience, and a background in higher education or non-profit accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or business administration.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in business/financial services.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience in higher education/non-profit accounting desirable.
• Successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial control activities, including general ledger and payroll processing.
• Lead and supervise finance staff, set goals, provide feedback, and evaluate performance.
• Manage cash flow, fixed assets, and debt, including bond payments and construction accounts.
• Coordinate audits, prepare schedules, and liaison with auditors and CFO.
• Support budgeting and grant reporting for compliance and accuracy.
