Job summary

Saint Martin’s University is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor who serves as the first point of contact for students and families regarding financial aid eligibility and awards. The role involves guiding inquiries via phone, email, and in person, and supporting outreach and policy implementation within the Office of Financial Aid.

The position supports the Assistant Directors, manages outside scholarships, and assists with office procedures while upholding FERPA and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in financial aid or similar student services.
• Experience with financial aid awarding is desirable.
• Experience using PowerFAIDS software is preferable.
• Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
• Successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial contact in the Office of Financial Aid in person, by phone/text, email, and virtual appointments.
• Provide information about the aid application process and student status.
• Assist with preparation of forms and materials for distribution.
• Assist with Admissions and campus events as a Financial Aid team representative.
• Present at financial aid workshops to students and parents.
• Assist staff with routine and advanced clerical duties.
• Add outside scholarships and other third-party resources.
• Assess documents received and input into PowerFAIDS system.
• Assist in development and implementation of office policies and procedures.
