Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Controller for Capital Projects & Project Finance in the Newark, NJ area onsite. The role oversees budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting for major capital investments, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in finance/accounting, strong project accounting experience, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in project accounting or capital investments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial governance of capital investment projects including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting.
• Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts using inputs from project teams, contract terms, and approved investment plans.
• Monitor and report actual expenditures against budgets with data accuracy and timely insights.
• Ensure compliance with internal finance policies, financial reporting guidelines, contractual agreements, and shareholder reporting requirements.
• Review fixed asset capitalization, accruals, supplier invoices, and payment schedules with Accounting and project delivery teams.
• Evaluate financial impact of scope changes and budget adjustments, preparing business cases and scenario analyses.
• Support project risk management by identifying and monitoring financial risks.
• Analyze financial results and variances, provide fact-based recommendations for decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to ensure controls and reporting align with project objectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
