Chartwells Higher Ed, a member of Compass Group USA, seeks a Financial Controller / Accountant for UMBC in Baltimore, MD. You will manage accounting activities within an assigned account and assist the Regional Director of Finance with regional financial operations.

The role requires strong accounting experience, preferably in foodservice or retail, with expertise in financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of five years’ experience with revenue control, financial reporting and cash handling responsibilities.
• Accounting experience in foodservice or retail industry required; foodservice operations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees accounting activity within an assigned account(s).
• Assists Regional Director of Finance with financial activities in the region.
• Performs reconciliation and analysis for balance sheet accounts and tracks monthly P/L.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports; supports audits.
• Maintains inventory and cost control procedures; administers payroll/Human Resources tasks.
