Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Operations Controller / Accountant to manage accounting activity within assigned accounts and assist the Regional Director of Finance. You will oversee cash handling, prepare monthly financials, budgets and forecasts, and support payroll and HR administration for UMBC and surrounding accounts.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Accounting, 5+ years in financial reporting and cash handling, and proficiency with Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience.
• At least five years’ experience with revenue control, financial reporting and cash handling.
• Experience in foodservice or retail industry preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to generate financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cash handling procedures.
• Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
• Analyze financial results for internal and external use.
• Track monthly P/L and balance sheet activity.
• Develop forecasts and budgets, identify risks and opportunities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Maintain inventory and cost control procedures.
• Administer payroll and HR functions.
• Handle special projects as assigned.
