Job summary

Phoenix Tailings seeks a Finance Chief of Staff to drive the finance agenda as the company scales. You will align company strategy with financial planning, capital allocation, and executive decision cadence, partnering closely with the senior finance leader.

The role demands a senior finance and strategy leader who can move from board-level questions to detailed analysis, improving decision quality, creating accountability, and owning high-priority finance initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7–12 years of progressive experience in strategic finance or related fields.
• Strong command of financial planning, cash and capital allocation.
• Experience advising senior executives and preparing materials for boards/investors.
• Proven ability to lead complex work across functions and execute decisions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to simplify complex issues.
• High discretion, sound judgment, and comfort operating in sensitive situations.
• Hands-on leadership style; comfortable with strategic and detailed work.
• Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial tech, or climate-related industries is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted partner to senior finance leader on priorities and follow-through.
• Own finance leadership cadence: planning, decision forums, deliverables, accountability.
• Lead strategic finance work: long-range planning, capital allocation, scenario analysis, financing prep.
• Coordinate board and investor materials with clear ownership and executive perspective.
• Drive cross-functional projects across finance, manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, and exec team.
• Identify gaps in finance processes or information and resolve them.
• Support organization design, hiring priorities, and finance team development.
• Represent the finance leader in selected meetings and workstreams with judgment.
• Take ownership of urgent or sensitive work outside existing finance teams.
