Job summary

Phoenix Tailings in Burlington, MA is seeking a Finance Chief of Staff to help lead the company’s finance agenda as it scales. You will connect strategy with financial planning, capital allocation, and executive decisions, driving cross-functional accountability within the finance organization.

• 7–12 years of progressive experience in strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or a CFO organization.
• Strong command of financial planning, cash and capital allocation, financial statements, and scenario analysis.
• Experience advising senior executives and preparing materials for boards or investors.
• A record of leading complex work across functions and converting decisions into execution.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complicated issues without losing substance.
• High discretion, sound judgment, and confidence operating in sensitive situations.
• Hands-on leadership style and comfort working at both strategic and detailed levels.
• Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, critical materials, or climate-related industries is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted partner to the senior finance leader on priorities, decisions, and follow through.
• Own the finance leadership cadence, including planning, decision forums, key deliverables, and accountability.
• Lead selected strategic finance work, including long range planning, capital allocation, scenario analysis, and financing preparation.
• Coordinate board and investor materials with clear ownership, consistent data, and an executive point of view.
• Drive complex projects that cross finance, manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, and the executive team.
• Identify gaps in finance processes, information, or ownership and work with leaders to resolve them.
• Support organization design, hiring priorities, and team development within finance.
• Represent the finance leader in selected meetings and workstreams with appropriate judgment and authority.
• Take direct ownership of urgent or sensitive work that does not fit cleanly within an existing finance team.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Finance Chief of Staff to help lead the finance agenda as Phoenix Tailings scales. Working closely withthe company's senior finance leader, you will connect company strategy, financial planning, capital allocation,executive decisions, and the operating cadence of the finance organization.

The ideal candidate is a senior finance and strategy leader who can move between a board level question and thedetailed work needed to resolve it. You will improve decision quality, create accountability, and take direct ownership ofthe finance priorities that matter most.

What We Offer

This base salary range reflects our best estimate for this role. The final package may vary based on experience andqualifications and includes eligibility for a discretionary bonus and equity.

Base Salary Range: $180,000 to $230,000
