The Finance Business Partner is a financial leader responsible for providing financial insights, analysis, and guidance to Marketing, Research, and other key business units within TEGNA. This role acts as a critical finance business partner, supporting functional and business unit leaders in making data-driven decisions that align with the company’s overall financial and operational goals.
In addition to delivering financial performance analysis, this individual will oversee core finance and accounting functions for these business units, ensuring fiscal discipline, accurate reporting, and alignment with broader corporate objectives
Responsibilities:
Financial Partnership & Decision Support
•Collaborate with business unit leaders to support their objectives while aligning with corporate financial goals.
•Provide actionable insights and financial analysis to drive data-informed decision-making.
•Evaluate the financial viability of new projects, conducting cost-benefit analysis, ROI modeling, and scenario planning to optimize investments.
Financial Oversight & Performance Analysis
•Assess the financial performance of marketing campaigns, analyzing ROI across various channels and providing recommendations to optimize budget allocation for maximum impact.
•Monitor and manage budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring financial sustainability of key initiatives.
•Partner with the Chief Experience Officer on evaluating the research function to analyze audience trends, consumer insights, and market data, integrating financial metrics into decision-making.
•Partner with the Business unit leaders to ensure performance expectations are being met.
Financial Reporting & Industry Best Practices
•Ensure financial reporting and accounting processes are executed accurately and efficiently on a monthly basis.
•Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging financial tools, and methodologies that can enhance TEGNA’s financial strategy.
•Provide senior leadership with clear and concise financial reports and forecasts that drive accountability and informed strategic planning.
Requirements:
•10+ years in a management or leadership role, broadcast media company experience preferred
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required; an advanced degree, CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
•Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
•Strategic agility, business acumen, and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, including high-level leaders
•Expertise and a proven track record of exceeding goals and evidence of the ability to continually make good decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to collaborate across different teams
•Ability to meet short/long term deadlines
•Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Data Visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau
Pay Range
$125,000 - $165,000 USD

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.
Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
