Job summary

MEC (Mass Electric Construction) invites applications for a Finance Analyst Internship focused on project accounting, cost control, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable. The role supports month-end close and prepares financial reporting for project management across large-scale initiatives.

The internship is entry-level, with training in cost components (labor, equipment, materials, subcontracts) and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or equivalent.
• 0-2 years' financial/data analysis experience
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
• Previous internship experience is preferred
• Willingness to relocate anywhere in the country
• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Experience with Pivot Tables and V-Lookups is preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset
• Must be able to access all parts of a construction site and work independently or in a team

Responsibilities

• Assist with cost control and project forecasting activities
• Support accounts payable/receivable and payroll processes
• Help prepare financial reporting packages for project management
• Learn and execute processes related to labor, equipment, materials and subcontracts costs
• Maintain internal controls for purchasing and invoicing workflows
• Assist with month-end close and cost/revenue recognition
• Support intercompany and client billing processes
• Ensure accuracy of cost and budget reports and adjust as needed
• Communicate clearly with project teams and stakeholders
• Contribute to compliance with corporate policies and labor laws
• Support timekeeping and HR workflow misunderstandings as needed
• Maintain organized project documentation and reporting
