Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Experience with cost accounting or inventory accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Perform cost variance analysis and explain fluctuations.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile subledger to GL.
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts (cycle counts, physical inventory).
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for close processes.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and provide insights to operations teams.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities and financial reporting.

Position SummaryThe Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of a manufacturing organization, with a focus on cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting. This role ensures accurate tracking of product costs, supports month-end close processes, and helps maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Accounting & InventoryMaintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overheadPerform cost variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead) and explain fluctuationsMonitor inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, and adjustmentsReconcile inventory subledger to the general ledgerAssist with periodic inventory counts (cycle counts and physical inventory)Financial Reporting & ClosePrepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesAnalyze manufacturing variances and provide insights to operations teamsSupport preparation of financial statements and management reportsBudgeting & AnalysisAssist in the development of annual budgets and forecastsTrack actual performance versus budget and identify trendsProvide financial analysis to support operational decision-makingSystems & ControlsMaintain cost accounting data in ERP systemsEnsure internal controls over financial reporting and inventory are in place and functioningCollaborationPartner with production, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure accurate cost dataSupport process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracyCommunicate financial insights to non-finance stakeholdersQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience with cost accounting or inventory accounting strongly preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in ERP systems (e.g., IQMS, SAP, Oracle, or similar)Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principlesSoft SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesEffective communication and collaboration skillsPreferred QualificationsCPA or progress toward certificationExperience with standard costing and variance analysisFamiliarity with lean manufacturing environments or continuous improvement initiativesWork EnvironmentPrimarily office-based with periodic time on the production floorMay require extended hours during month-end close or auditsSuccess MetricsAccuracy and timeliness of financial reportingEffectiveness of cost analysis and variance reportingInventory accuracy and reconciliation performanceContribution to process improvements and cost savings
