Qualifications

• Reliable and timely communication with students and Tierney Education.
• Ability to complete administrative tasks on time.

About the Role

Tierney Education tutors work one-on-one and in small groups with students to help them better understand course material, prepare for exams, and develop stronger learning habits. We don't take shortcuts to learning—our goal is to help students become more confident and independent learners.

Tutors are responsible for:

• Meeting one-on-one or in small groups with students
• Communicating directly with students to schedule sessions
• Submitting brief session reflections within 24 hours
• Submitting monthly tutoring hours
• Communicating with the Tierney Education team about student progress

Prior tutoring or peer mentoring experience is preferred but not required.

Pay & Training

Peer tutors start at $30 per hour-long tutoring session.

All tutors complete a paid 90-minute learning science training and receive our tutoring handbook and ongoing support from the Tierney Education team.

This is a flexible contract position that works well for Penn State undergraduate and graduate students who enjoy helping others learn.
