Job summary

CFS in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and internal controls in a hybrid role. This hands-on position requires managing grants and contracts, and coordinating audits while supporting long-term sustainability.

You’ll supervise accounting staff, partner with leadership on financial planning, and ensure compliance with GAAP and funding requirements. Strong nonprofit background preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with grants, government contracts, and multiple funding sources.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP and financial reporting.
• Audit and budgeting experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, GL, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide budget-to-actual analysis.
• Manage financial aspects of grants and government contracts, including billing, reimbursements, reporting, and tracking.
• Ensure GAAP compliance with funding requirements and nonprofit standards.
• Coordinate annual audits and assist with Form 990 and regulatory filings.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
• Partner with executive and program leadership on financial planning and decision-making.
• Supervise accounting staff and external financial partners as needed.

A growing nonprofit organization is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations and support the organization’s fiscal health and long-term sustainability.

This is a hands-on role responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, grant and contract accounting, audit coordination, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience and be comfortable working with multiple funding sources, including government contracts and grants.

Preferred: CPA, Single Audit/Uniform Guidance experience, and experience with DHS, CYF, behavioral health, or human services funding.
