American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a motivated Accounting & Finance Intern for our Columbus-based team. This role supports accounting and finance tasks and engages in technology-driven transformation projects, offering hands-on experience across financial reporting, data analysis, and budgeting.

The internship emphasizes attention to detail, analytical thinking, and teamwork, with relocation housing support for those moving >45 miles.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Help maintain accurate financial records and databases.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Participate in the reconciliation of accounts.
• Conduct data analysis and assist with budgeting activities and support technology driven transformation projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the accounting team.
