Job description

Reports to:Director of Film & Media

Location:Alice Chapman Hall

The full-time Film & Media Program Support Coordinator serves a vital role in providing a high level of program support to a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and other internal and external constituents. This is a salary non-exempt position staffed 11 months out of the year, between August and June, with the month of July off. Please note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

DUTIES&RESPONSIBILITIES:
Equipment Support
  • Oversee equipment checkout procedures and administer the online checkout system.
  • Train and supervise student checkout workers.
  • Collaborate with student workers to create supporting equipment checkout materials including videos and guides.
  • Provide basic training and technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students with special checkout requests.
  • Perform basic maintenance of film/ video equipment and coordinate necessary servicing and repair.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of film/ video equipment and an organized equipment room.
  • Work with the Director of Film & Media to recommend equipment purchases, research vendors, obtain price quotes, and place orders for film/ video equipment and supplies.
Classroom and Facility Assistance & Support
  • Prep and set up equipment and facilities, including studio lighting, in support of classroom activities and Film & Media events.
  • Maintain classroom, studio, sound booth, editing lab, and animation suite equipment and provide AV support and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Certify students on the studio scissor lift (instructor certification training will be provided).
  • Occasional clip compilations andDVDtransfers for classroom use.
  • Coordinate film to video transfers.
General Program Support
  • Serve as primary contact for the Film & Media program, directing calls or inquiries while providing a high level of professionalism.
  • Serve as liaison to IT, Facility Services, and other university offices.
  • Collaborate with members of the Film Studies program to provide day-to-day support and assistance.
  • Perform other duties in support of the Film & Media program as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS,ANDABILITIESREQUIRED:
  • Strong working knowledge of audio/ video production and field equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of studio lighting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Working knowledge of, or willingness to be trained on, additional specialized software (Adobe CS, Davinci Resolve, Protools, Dragonframe).
  • Working knowledge of, or willingness to be trained on, 16mm film equipment and workflows, analog cameras, and multiplane animation stands.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiar with Mac computers.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull production equipment up to 80lbs.
  • Willingness to undergo training to receive instructor certification on the studio scissor lift.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals at varying levels with a high degree of tact, poise, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills, with the ability to work independently, maintain flexibility while managing competing priorities, and adapt and respond to ambiguous or urgent situations.
  • A proactive, positive, and professional attitude with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
EDUCATIONANDWORKEXPERIENCE:
  • B.A. in related field or significant professional experience required, M.F.A preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with audio/ video equipment and production facilities.
  • Prior experience with 16mm film workflows and equipment preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience providing academic program support preferred.1+ year of experience in production equipment maintenance and/or repair preferred.
