Job summary

General Plastics & Composites LP in Houston, TX is seeking a Filament Winder Helper to assist with filament winding of composite parts. You will work with experienced technicians to read paperwork, measure tooling with calipers and OD mics, enter data in the system, perform quality checks and select the correct program for each job.

You will load/unload equipment, retrieve tooling, set up and string machines, perform basic maintenance, maintain 5S standards and ensure a clean, safe work

Qualifications

Job description

As a Filament Winder Helper, you will be responsible for assisting with the filament winding of various composite parts. A Filament Winder Helper will work with experienced technicians to perform all aspects of the job such as reading, understanding and completing paperwork, measuring and verify tooling with the use of OD mics and calipers, completing transactions in the system, performing quality checks, selecting the appropriate program for the for the job and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

• Load and unload filament winder machine.
• Retrieve appropriate tooling for the job.
• Select and verify filament winder program based on the job.
• Set up machines.
• String machines.
• Complete paperwork as necessary.
• Remove and replace temporary flooring at workstation.
• Sweep and Mop floors as required.
• Labor in/out using data collect.
• Maintain 5S standards.
• Move completed parts to staging area.Perform necessary preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Work closely with other departments to determine priorities.
• Use of overhead crane.
• Follow all work procedures for the area.
• Comply with all safety and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience:
• No experience required.
• Skills:
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic knowledge of measuring devices, including calipers, OD micrometers, tape measure, and ruler.
• Personal Attributes:
• Detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift 45lbs.
• Must be able to wear all required PPE.
• Must be able to stand for 10-12 hrs per shift.
• Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions.
• Must be able to work around different types of resins and composite materials.
• Must be able to work around chemicals and solvents such as acetone, releasing agents and various cleaning supplies.
