Job summary

Fenagh Engineering & Testing in the Los Angeles region seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to lead welding inspections, QA evaluations, and code compliance verification on structural steel and infrastructure projects. This role involves extensive field work, strict attention to welding standards, and clear communication with project teams.

Candidates must hold a current AWS CWI, have at least three years' welding inspection experience, and be able to read drawings, interpret WPS/PQR/WPQ

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of welding inspection experience in structural steel or related industries.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.5, AISC, ASTM, ICC Special Inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to travel within the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with project specs and applicable codes.
• Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and fabrication practices.
• Inspect structural steel fabrication and erection activities.
• Review WPS, PQR, and WPQ records.
• Monitor welding operations for compliance with AWS, AISC, ASTM, and project requirements.
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports.
• Coordinate with PMs, contractors, engineers, fabricators and owners on results and corrective actions.
• Witness and document NDT activities as required.
• Maintain records and submit reports timely.
• Attend project meetings and provide welding QC guidance.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA regulations.
