Job summary

Loose Cannon Industries is seeking a Field Welder to perform in-field welding and installation of steel components on active construction sites. You will read blueprints, fit assemblies, and work safely with SMAW, MIG, and other processes.

The role collaborates with the Field Foreman and Superintendent to coordinate shop production with field installation, uphold safety standards, and deliver quality workmanship on schedule.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of field welding and steel installation experience.
• Proficient in SMAW (stick); FCAW is a plus.
• Ability to read drawings, weld symbols, and measurements.
• Current AWS D1.1 certification preferred (or ability to certify on hire).
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural, architectural, and miscellaneous steel welding in the field according to project drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols accurately.
• Set up, fit, and install steel components (beams, stairs, railings, embeds).
• Operate and maintain welding and cutting equipment (SMAW, MIG, oxy-fuel, plasma).
• Perform on-site measurements, layout, and adjustments as required.
• Work independently or as part of a field crew to complete installations safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper PPE use and jobsite compliance.
• Collaborate with project leads and shop teams to resolve fit-up or design issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean, safe working condition.
• Represent LCI with professionalism and quality workmanship on every job.
