The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Weights and Measures, is seeking a Weights and Measures Inspector for a territory including Loudoun and Prince William counties in Northern Virginia.

The role involves enforcing the law, testing devices, sampling fuels, conducting POS inspections, and investigating complaints. Occasional overnight travel may be required; candidate should reside within reasonable distance of the territory.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of inspection, investigation and enforcement procedures related to petroleum, point-of-sale or scales industries.
• Ability to report facts accurately and interpret laws and regulations.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and with basic mechanical aptitude.
• Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with standard office software applications.

Responsabilités

• Enforce the Weights and Measures Law and related regulations.
• Test, inspect, and determine the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices used commercially in Virginia.
• Sample motor fuels and conduct point-of-sale inspections.
• Investigate consumer complaints and document activities; prepare summaries as needed.
