Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Weights Measures Inspector to ensure accuracy and fairness of devices and products across the state. You will inspect devices, review packaged goods, investigate violations, and prepare reports while traveling regionally. The role may be home headquartered with a PA-location requirement and a valid CDL.

Typical schedule is full-time, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with travel to counties in Region 4. A drug screening may be required after a conditional offer.

Qualifications

• Four years of public contact work, including one year of weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections.

Responsibilities

• Device Inspection: Conduct inspections and accuracy tests on commercial weighing and measuring devices in accordance with laws and regulations
• Package Review: Examine packaged goods sold by weight, measure, or count to verify correct labeling and content accuracy
• Fraud Investigation: Investigate potential violations, prepare prosecution materials, and testify when required
• Report Preparation: Prepare and submit accurate inspection, audit, mileage, and incident reports in a timely manner
• Fuel Sampling: Collect fuel and biofuel samples, as well as complete chain of custody documents for quality testing programs
• Equipment Management: Maintain, use, and account for assigned tools, vehicles, protective equipment, and electronic devices
• This position requires employees to demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
