Job summary

City of Muskogee seeks a Water Distribution Meter Technician to test, repair, calibrate, and document water meters used for city billing. You will operate tools and equipment, maintain detailed records, and occasionally travel between city locations as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of trades or maintenance experience, with basic computer skills. A valid Oklahoma Class D driver’s license is required, and a state water license must be obtained

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred and 1 year of experience in trades or maintenance, preferably involving operation of light to medium equipment.
• Basic knowledge of test equipment and hand tools for meter calibration, repair and testing.
• Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software; ability to learn new office technologies.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand tools, power tools, light trucks and small equipment.
• Participate in maintenance activities and operate small to medium equipment.
• Test water meters with special test equipment; repair, paint, clean and calibrate meters.
• Keep records of test results and enter information on meters using computer systems.
• Order meters and parts from vendors as needed.
• Operate office equipment and learn new technologies; perform other assigned duties.
• Reported to Water Distribution Superintendent and have no supervisory responsibilities.
