Job summary

Parallel Systems in Ventura County, California, is seeking a Field Vehicle Operations Specialist to support and coordinate activities at our electric railcar test site. You will collaborate with engineers, contractors, and operations teams to prepare for vehicle development tests and demonstrations, while ensuring safe operation under railroad rules.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in transportation operations or vehicle development.
• 1+ years operating heavy machinery such as cranes or tele-handlers.
• 1+ years rigging and lifting operations of heavy equipment and structures.
• Experience in railroad environments and following operating procedures and safety rules.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Locomotive Engineer/Conductor certification current or within last 3 years.
• Preferred: experience with electric vehicles and high voltage systems.
• Experience with test and measurement equipment and data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Lead field site operations including setup/shutdown, security reports, utilities, vehicle self-tests, inspections, and daily safety briefings.
• Support daily test execution with test briefing, supplies, instrumentation installation, and safe operation.
• Maintain site and tools, PPE, and workspace organization; coordinate with facilities for utilities.
• Maintain railcar vehicles with battery charging, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain field support vehicles (UTVs, Tool Trucks) in good condition.
• Coordinate work plans and schedules with cross-functional teams.
• Set up field tests and instrumentation; perform safety inspections.
• Lead daily procedure briefings and execute vehicle operational procedures.
• Collect, transmit, and review test data; ensure safety of field activities.
• Must complete required training and retain applicable certifications.
